I used to have really nice wavey hair. Almost full on curls. It used to be really big and lovely and now I really miss my hair! It’s straighter than ever and it has some wave to it, but it isn’t like it used to be a few years ago. I decided to try to get my beautiful hair back and after some research I heard great things about the Mad About Waves line, did it work for me?

I absolutely love the scent of these two, they have a really nice peachy smell to them and it makes your hair smell all lovely for the entire day! The shampoo lathers really nicely and really cleanses my hair. It’s honestly a joy to use in the shower! The conditioner is a bit ‘meh’, it doesn’t hydrate my hair a lot and you need to use A LOT. My hair is really thin and is past my shoulders, so when I want to cover my ends in conditioner, I need to use up to 6 pumps each time, and then it still doesn’t feel like it’s enough. It’s a bit of a downside.
But let’s get to the promises, I love this duo, but they actually don’t do anything for my waves! It’s really interesting to see: my hair looks even more straight than usual when I use it, but when my boyfriend (who has really curly hair) uses it, his hair looks absolutely fantastic, there’s no frizz and has curls look absolutely beautiful and glossy.
To illustrate it for the people who know about different curly types: my hair used to be between a 2B and a 2C, especially when it was a lot shorter, but now it’s straight to 2A. My boyfriend’s type is between a 3A and a 3B. So it’s quite funny how it works a lot better on his than it does on mine!
Now, on the Schwarzkopf Professional website, the ‘standard’ conditioner is recommended for people with 2C hairtypes, and the Splash conditioner is recommended for 2A and 2B, so maybe it’s too heavy for my hair. It doesn’t explain why it doesn’t really hydrate my hair though. When I use them, my hair looks really curly in the shower, but as soon as I get out of the shower and dry my hair (naturally!) the curls are gone.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that it makes my hair rather dull. My hair looks a lot more sad when I use it. When I use my L’oreal Botanical conditioner in combination with the shampoo, all the shine gets back to my hair! So, either the L’oreal one is even better than I thought, or this line just makes my hair dull.
So, what’s my verdict? I honestly don’t know! The line is quite expensive in the Netherlands, but I do enjoy using it. I do see some waves and curls while in the shower, but maybe the conditioner is just the wrong one for me. And maybe my hair is just getting too long. Or maybe I had too high expectations. But then again, it did wonders for my boyfriend’s hair! I do not know what to think of it. I think I wil try out the Splash conditioner and will report back on this combination!
Have you tried this line? 🙂
