New releases in 2019 !

2019 is a whole new year that I can fill with a whole lot of books! With the new year comes new releases and in this post I’m going to share my excitement with you for some new books!!

Mary Wears What She Wants by Keith Negley
With it’s release date coming very soon, (January 15th!) I have to start off this post with this one! Mary Wears What She Wants is a picture book with a great synopsis:

Inspired by the true story of Mary Edwards Walker, a trailblazing doctor who bucked the gender expectations of her time, this is a fresh, charming picture book about a young girl who decides to wear what she wants: pants!
Once upon a time (but not too long ago), girls only wore dresses.
And only boys wore pants.
Until one day, a young girl named Mary had a bold idea: She would wear whatever she wanted. And she wanted to wear pants!

I mean, how can I not want this book! Also, look at that cover, it’s beautiful. I need it. I need it BADLY!

NearWitch_finalthe Near Witch by V. E. Schwab
Ok, granted, this book won’t come out in 2019, it has all ready been out for year, but it wasn’t being published anymore, so this is a re-release, which is JUST as exciting, OK!

The Near Witch is only an old story told to frighten children. If the wind calls at night, you must not listen. The wind is lonely, and always looking for company. There are no strangers in the town of Near. These are the truths that Lexi has heard all her life. But when an actual stranger, a boy who seems to fade like smoke, appears outside her home on the moor at night, she knows that at least one of these sayings is no longer true. The next night, the children of Near start disappearing from their beds, and the mysterious boy falls under suspicion. As the hunt for the children intensifies, so does Lexi’s need to know about the witch that just might be more than a bedtime story, about the wind that seems to speak through the walls at night, and about the history of this nameless boy.

This really has some Wicked Deep vibes, and I’m so excited for it!! Victoria Schwab is a really great author, so I can’t wait to read her very first work! Coming out on March 12th, the wait won’t be too long, which makes it even better! 🙂

While we are on the topic of Victoria Schwab, book 2 of the Cassidy Blake series will be out in 2019! A more precise date isn’t out yet, but I’m just excited it’s this year!! If you don’t know, I LOVED City of Ghosts and I’m so excited to continue! My guess is that it’ll take part in Paris, or London, but honestly I believe it’s Paris because catacombs!! There’s no synopsis yet,  so all I can tell you about it is that I’m excited and if you love creepy middle grade, this would be right up your alley!

imagethe Birds by Tarjei Vesaas
The Ice Palace was one of my (if not THE) favourites of this year, I loved the book so much, I honestly can’t tell you how much! Now, this isn’t a new book perse (considering this book was originally written in 1957…) but I’m really glad Penguin is publishing a new translation! And, not entirely unimportant, this cover matches my edition of the Ice Palace, haha! The synopsis is quite interesting too:

This is the story of Mattis, a mentally handicapped man who lives with and is cared for by his older sister, Hege. Within their isolated, lakeside existence, Mattis cannot make sense of his tangled thoughts, frightening apparitions, surges of emotion and clever insights. When a travelling lumberjack attracts Hege’s affections, the disruption is too much for Mattis to bear.

It also promises to break my heart, so it’s been nice knowing y’all.

What are some of the books you’re excited for in the upcoming year?? 🙂
