Reading Goals for 2019

Last years goals are pretty much done. I read more than 55 books, I finished Poirot, I read more children’s books, I read more fashion history, and I put no pressure to read on myself. These weren’t very hard (ok, maybe the Poirot one, as it’s 30+ books…) but I made them! This year, I want to challenge myself a little bit more! I don’t want to set a unrealistic goal for myself on how many books I am going to read, so I’m just going to keep it 55 books in 2019 as well. But there are going to be some goals within those 55!

Two of my favourite books out of the entire year were translated fiction. One from Norwegian and the other from French. When I noticed that I realised that I read a LOT of British books. I mean, a LOT. That felt strange, considering how much I loved those two books! I really want to try to read at least 1 translated book per month. And no, English translated to Dutch doesn’t count, haha! I’m really excited to try this!

23848320I read quite a few non-fiction books this year, but I really want to read more. Our fiction bookcases are pretty much full (except for about 1 shelf) and our non-fiction bookcases looks a bit sad in comparison. I love non-fiction, but I’ve been on a fiction binge lately! So let’s see if I can read enough to fill up our cases in 2019!

8003089Recently I discovered that my favourite books from my childhood are out of print. OUT OF PRINT. Imagine my heartbreak!! I immediately started to search for them online and it was so hard to find them! Luckily, there’s a small bookstore in my town that sells used children’s books so I’m going to have to have a subscription to the story to get all of them! I read even more as a child than I do now, so it woud be a lot of fun to read all those books! Especially as I don’t really read anything in Dutch anymore, as English is just more easy for me to read. I can’t wait to meet my old friends again! 🙂

These are going to be my main goals for 2019! I might think of some more along the way, but as I read for fun, and not for anything else, I don’t want to force myself to read just to meet my goals.

What are your goals for 2019?

  1. Hi Liselotte! I’m excited to try and read over 50 books as well next year. I think I’m the opposite from you and would like to read a little more fiction than non-fiction. I do have a question for you, do you keep all your books when you’re done?

    1. Hi!!
That’s a fun question!! It depends, if I really REALLY dislike a book, I will sell them on in a shop in my town, but most of the books I do keep, I do collect quite a few, like picture books or the Crime Club! So even if I don’t like them I keep them, just for my collections sake haha 🙂

Good luck with your reading goal, and hopefully there will be a ton of fiction coming your way! 🙂
