Review: Nars Narsissit wanted POWER PACK LIP KIT – HOT REDS

NARS finally arrived in the Netherlands a few months ago. I’ve been dying to try some of their products, but as they are quite expensive, and I’m not rich at all, I needed to save up before I could try anything. Luckily, NARS came out with a mini boxset of their Powermatte liquid lipsticks! Mini means mini prices, so I bit the bullet and bought the red pack. Did I love it?

The power of two. Exclusive Powermatte Lip Pigment duos deliver a long-lasting matte finish on the double. Each limited-edition set features a new shade. Our most powerful matte yet, infinite matte color saturates with ultra-flexible long-wear—and sensorial, lightweight liquefied pigment applies like an ink on lips. Dries down to lock in formula for a smudge-resistant, zero-gravity wear. Twice the swipe. Follow the hype. #NARSissist. Limited edition.

SHADES:
NEW Cherry Bomb (candy apple red)
Don’t Stop (geranium)

  • POWER OF PIGMENT: FULL COVERAGE PIGMENT WITH ONE SWIPE APPLICATION
    • Smooth liquid texture glides on with ease to give fully saturated opaque coverage
    • Ultra-pigmented color has true matte finish
    • Custom doe-foot applicator provides effortless precision in one swipe
  • POWER OF COMFORT: LONG-WEAR COLOR WITH A COMFORTABLE TEXTURE
    • Fluid Pigment Complex provides lightweight, flexible color that moves with lips and feels comfortable
    • Long-wear formula provides lasting, smudge-resistant wear

In the bottle, the products look identical. However, when applied is when you can tell which one’s which! Now, be warned for the swatches. They aren’t pretty, and I will explain why in a bit.

The reason why these aren’t pretty, is that they run like HELL. My skin is really dry, so the colour just seeps into my fine lines and it looks really smudgy and runny and just BAD. But I’ve tried to swatch this about 5 times and all of them look bad. So just deal with ok, thank you.

That doesn’t, however, say anything about the product. I love this. I love this so much. They do exactly what they promise! (queue party music).
As you can tell by the swatch, they are really full coverage. They are really matte and dry down really quickly. They are more difficult to apply, as they are really watery,  they slip and slide really easily. Even though they run really badly as a swatch, they don’t run on my lips at all. I do apply the lipstick on my bottom lip first, and spread the left overs on the rest of my lips, so I don’t use too much product in one go on just one spot.
If you are a beginner with liquid lipstick, don’t try these ones just yet, as the chances of slipping is pretty high. I actually sometimes use a lipliner with these if I need to apply the product quickly, which I do recommend if you need it!

These are incredibly comfortable to wear! I actually love wearing these more than the Jouer ones, and those are my favourite! The Jouer ones are more long wearing though, so if you need a really long wearing liquid lipstick, I’d still recommend those, but if you want a comfortable, 6 hour long wear liquid lipstick, I’d totally 100% recommend these!

Have you tried any of the NARS liquid lipsticks?

  1. I got one of these for free with my Sephora points and I have to say although the packaging was cute and the color was great, it was disgustingly watery, which made application a disaster. On top of that, even when it dried down completely, it ended up bleeding horribly to the point that I got rid of it. I wore it the day I got engaged and thank God the bleeding did not show up until after the photoshoot! I would not recommend these to anybody. Ever!

    1. Oh no!!! I’m so sad that they weren’t working for you!! It just goes to show that what works for someone, doesn’t for someone else. I’m really happy that your photos still looked great, and congratulations!
