So, 2017 is finally over and we are all looking forward to the reading wrap ups, the yearly favourites and the new year! Today I’m going to discuss my reading goals for 2017, whether I hit them or not and so forth!
I am an avid user of Goodreads, I like to know how many books I’ve read and how fast I’m reading. I pledged to read 55 books last year, and well… I read 63. I almost finished my 64th one, but alas, I didn’t finish it on time for my 2017 reading goal! All in all, I’m very pleased with myself, as my boyfriend only read 8 books this year!
Unfortunately, I haven’t finished the Poirot series. But I’m almost there! It was a bit of a ridiculous goal, as there are about 33 books in the whole series. I did end up reading 17 of them, and I’m currently reading another one. With the ones I read in 2016, I’m at 23! Only 10 more books and I’ve finished the series! I did read some of the short story collections as well, which made the list even longer, but we won’t even bother with those technicalities. haha.
SO, I didn’t finish this book. Even worse, I have only read a further 140 pages in total in the whole year! It’s not that I don’t like this book, because I love the series and this book is just like it, but it’s just so damn massive and I have an intense dislike for big books. I just can’t get myself to read it! When I take a bath, I don’t want to have a heavy book with me, nor when I’m commuting to work. It’s just a really stupid size, and if the book was split up in two or three books I would most definitely have finished it, but hey, maybe 2018 will be the year…
Okay, FINALLY a goal I did achieve! I read about 9 books on the subject, and bought even more to read in 2018! The only downside to this, is that I own nearly every single book on the subject and won’t have any more to read… I am very glad to have read even more though, because it’s such an interesting subject and I can’t wait to read more!
I’m pretty pleased with how I did this year, it was a very emotional year for me, and yet I still finished a lot of books.
How did your year in books go? 🙂
